DUETTE®
& APPLAUSE™ HONEYCOMB SHADES
SILHOUETTE & VIGNETTE WINDOW SHADINGS
PLEATED & WINDOW SHADES
Regular light dusting with a feather duster
will suffice in most circumstances. For
more thorough dust removal, the fabric may
be vacuumed. A hand-held vacuum with low
suction is recommended. Alternatively, dirt
and debris can be blown away using compressed
air or a hand-held hair dryer on the COOL
setting. Whatever method is used, care must
be taken to avoid wrinkling the fabric.
Sponge or Spot Cleaning
When needed, Duette® and Applause™
fabrics (only) can be cleaned by gently
blotting with a soft, damp cloth or sponge,
using lukewarm water and a mild detergent.
Be careful not to apply too much pressure
to the fabric. Take special care when cleaning
opaque or "blackout" fabrics to
avoid creasing and pilling.
Do not sponge or spot clean Duette®
Manhattan, Gramercy Park, Park Avenue, or
Park Avenue Eclipse fabrics.
Bathtub Cleaning
To clean the entire Duette® or Applause™
shade, immerse the assembly in lukewarm
water with a mild detergent and move it
around lightly with your fingers. Wash for
about five minute then rinse with clean
water. Close the shade before removing it
from the rinse water. Tilt the shade to
allow excess water to escape. Re-install
the damp shade back into the window opening
and lower the shade all the way to allow
it to dry completely.
Do not
immerse Silhouette, Vignette, Duette®
Manhattan, Duette® PowerRise, Pleated
Shades, or Window Shades.
Do not immerse Skyrise, EasyRise, Easy Glide,
Vertiglide, Smart Shade, or opaque fabrics.
Ultrasonic Cleaning
Shades can be ultrasonically cleaned by
a professional. If using this service, a
mild detergent solution must be specified.
The head rail cannot be immersed in the
solution and the shades/shadings must be
allowed to dry in the completely lowered
position.
Do not
ultrasonically clean Window Shades, Silhouette
Bon Soir, opaque fabrics, metallized, backed
shades, or the Pleated Shades fabric Adrianna.
Do not ultrasonically clean EasyRise, Easy
Glide, Skyrise, PowerRise, Smart Shade,
Vertiglide, arches and angles.
LUMINETTE™ PRVACY SHEERS™
Luminette™ Privacy Sheers™ are
extremely durable and, with proper installation
and care, will provide many years of beauty
and performance. The sheer fabric and vane
fabric are 100% polyester. Although the
fabrics are resilient, anti-static and dust
resistant, periodic cleaning is recommended
to help keep Luminette™ Privacy Sheers™
looking like new.
Routine Cleaning
Regular light dusting with a feather duster
is suggested. A hand-held vacuum with low
suction may also be used. When vacuuming,
avoid pulling or stretching the sheer fabric.
Rigorous vacuuming or using a brush attachment
is not recommended, since either could distort
the fabric.
Light Surface Cleaning
Professional dry cleaning using the vacuum
method is suitable for light surface cleaning.
Sheers should remain hanging to minimize
handling, wrinkling or puckering. The plastic
vacuum component from a steam cleaning machine,
set at 65-80 pounds of pressure and a maximum
of 102 degrees Farenheit, is recommended.
Deep Cleaning
Sheers should remain hanging to minimize
handling, wrinkling or puckering. For a
deep cleaning, professional steam cleaning
with a portable steam machine is best. Using
a drapery head, apply the same pressure
and temperature as described above. After
deep cleaning, remove wrinkles from the
fabric according to the following instructions.
Wrinkle and Crease Removal
Apply warm distilled or bottled water to
a clean white cloth. Support the fabric
from behind using another clean cloth that
is dry. Use a gentle, blotting action to
apply the wet cloth to the wrinkle or crease
on the sheer fabric. Let area air dry.
Spot Cleaning
To reduce the potential for permanent staining,
spots should be treated and cleaned as soon
as possible with a clothing stain pre-treatment
solution. Apply pre-treatment solution to
a clean white cloth. Support the fabric
from behind using another clean cloth that
is dry. Clean the spot using a gentle blotting
action. Avoid rubbing the fabric since any
abrasive action may cause it to distort.
Let area air dry.
CUSTOM HORIZONTAL ALUMINUM BLINDS
COUNTRY WOODS™ WOOD BLINDS
Regular cleaning with a feather duster or
a soft, clean cloth is usually all that
is needed to keep blinds looking new. Blinds
may also be cleaned by a hand-held vacuum
with a brush attachment using low suction.
Stained Wood Blinds should be treated periodically
with lemon oil or other wood preservative
to protect their finish. DO NOT damp clean
stained blinds; the water could damage their
surface appearance.
Ultrasonic cleaning is NOT recommended for
wood blinds.
VERTICAL BLINDS
Fabric vertical blinds require only periodic
dusting or vacuuming to keep them looking
new. Do not wash or dry clean fabric blinds.
Do not use ammonia cleaners on or near fabric.
Vinyl & aluminum blinds can be wiped
clean with a damp cloth or sponge. Leaving
a very thin film of detergent on each vertical
vane will reduce buildup of static electricity.
