The current Brilliance Pleated Shade book is sold out and a re-vampled product offering is underway for 2011 .In order to support the current Brilliance Pleated shade program an interim sample book has been created.  This book contains no new fabrics, and is a scaled down version of the current book.  The interim sample book will feature 82 of the best performing skus.

1-28-2010  Honeycomb Shades - Skyrise Discontinuation

Effective February 2, 2010 the Skyline lift system in both the manual and motorized system will be discontinued.  We encourage you to take advantage of the PowerRise Skylight and Simplicity lift systems as a replacement for the Skyrise lift system.

1-28-2010  Skyline Gliding Window Panels - Valance Option

It has come to our attention that there is some confusion regarding the Skyline "Continuous Valance" option.  The only time the continuous valance option should be ordered is you intend to order multiple Skyline units and desire ONE continuous valance to top all of the units.

1-28-2010  Cadence Vertical Blinds - PermAssure Wand

Effective immediately Cadence Vertical Blinds will no longer offer the PermAssure Safety Wand option for blinds ordered with a center opening.  We have found that it causes a unwanted light gap.

10-19-09 Vignette® Modern Roman Shades Tiered™ Two-on-One Headrail Shades

Starting November 2,2009 Vignette® Modern Roman Shades will begin offering Tiered™ Two-on-One Headrail shades with the EasyRise™ and LiteRise® lifting systems.  This application is perfect for extra-wide windows.   Maximum width is 140" Maximum height is determined by the width and is the same as single panel Tiered EasyRise or Tered LiteRise Shades Available in even or uneven panel width; the narrower panel must be at least one-third the width of the wider panel Price as two individual Tiered EasyRise or Tiered LiteRise shades.  If pricing the LiteRise option, include the $80 surcharge for each individual shade (total surcharge $160) Not available in EveScape™ room-darkening fabrics

10-5-09 Vertical Blinds - Color Change

10-5-09 Provenance Woven Woods - Material Change

In an effort to reduce the Hunter Douglas footprint on the environment, we have replaced the Ramen wood that is used to manufacture our Kathay style.  It has been replaced with a species of Pine that replenished at a more rapid rate and adds further product durability.  You will notice a slight variation in grain pattern, as well as a subtle difference in the stain colors.  Please note that all shades purchased  prior to October 2009, will not be an exact match to our new colors but raher a commercial match.

9-11-09 Alustra® Silhouette®

As of September 8, 2009 you can now order a color-coordinated fabric-covered headrail in Gold Radiance™, Silver Reflection™ or Bronze Shimmer™ in place of the exclusive Alustra metallic headrail on Silhouette at no additional charge.  The color-coordinated metallic hardware finishes will remain the standard headrail.

8-17-09  Dual Roller Specification Update

Hunter Douglas is currently experiencing some problems with the Dual Roller Shade maximum drop specifications with several fabrics.  When the fabric wrap is applied to the Dual Cassette, the front roller shade has the tendency to rub against the fabric wrap on drops greater than 55" in the following fabrics: Baja, Elegant Linen, Illusions, Mohave, Satin, Serenade, Raw Silk and Toscana.  If the fabric warp is not applied to the Dual Cassette, then the front shade operates freely and does not rub against the cassette.    While work is being done to correct this problem, we will temporarily make the new max drop 55" on the above fabrics when using a fabric wrap on the cassette.

6-29-09  Luminette Privacy Sheers - Color Intensity

6-29-09 Hunter Douglas Shutters - New Hinge Finishes

The Custom Shutter collection is enhancing the hardware selection options on Heritance Hardwood shutters and  NewSyle hybird shutters with two new finishes available to dealers effective July 6, 2009.  The two new colors will be:  Venetian Bronze and Satin Black.  These two new finished will be available in all six hinge options and there is no surcharge for these new finishes.   New Color Codes:         022 - Venetian Bronze         023 - Satin Black

 4-3-09 Designer Roller Fabric  - Wild Harvest

We are disappointed to announce that we continue to have fabric difficulties with the Designer Roller shade fabric Wild Harvest.  Initial issues were with Wild Harvest color Fig, however we are now having problems with colors:  Gardenia, Flax, Cotton Seed, Sea Oat, Primrose and Fig. 

If you have any customer shade orders that are under 52" in width, orders will continue to be sent through fabrication.  Orders wider than 52" will be placed on back-order

3-27-09  Designer Roller Shades Cordless Roller Bracket Improvement

New improvements to the cordless installation bracket make installation easier than ever.

1. 1-1/2" hex head screws are now provided in the pack; previously Phillips head screws were used.
2. The bracket has been modified to allow installation with a hex head driver.

2-26-09  Duette® & Applause® Honeycomb Shades: LiteRise® Enhancements

New hardware enhancements on Duette and Applause Honeycomb Shades with LiteRise will take effect on March 27, 2009.
The new brackets may be used on either honeycomb shade. Two sizes are available; one for 3/8" shades and one for 3/4" and 1-1/4" shades. In addition, a new 1/2" spacer black with shim fit the metal bracket.

2-23-09  New Look for the Learning Center - Coming Soon

Beginning in April, a new look will debut for the Hunter Douglas Learning Center. It will be easier to navigate and successfully complete courses.

 

To prepare for the launch, the existing Learning Center will be unavailable during a transition period at the end of March. If you are in process of any eLearning courses - particularly the PCMP Selling System - be sure to finish your course by March 22. You may lose credit for partial work when the current system is down and the new look is launched.

If you sold Hunter Douglas Designer Roller Shades with round bottom bars and plastic end caps  during the months of April - May, 2008; there is a possibility that mis-fitting end caps may have been used.

 

Although no incidents have been reported, Hunter Douglas and Warren Steven has a child safety concern with the possibility that a mis-fitting end cap could fall out and end up in the hands of a young child. We would like to be pro-active in making certain that

1. Hunter Douglas products are as safe as possible.
2. Our consumers should receive high quality products.

If you have sold Designer Roller shades with mis-fitting end caps, please contact us for free replacement end caps in any home you may have the product in and we will get those to you promptly. Please then contact your customer and arrange for replacement end caps to be replaced.

1-30-2009  Modern Precious Metals® Hidden Installation Bracket Changes

An upcoming change to the current Gripper Bracket is targeted to begin May 5, 2009. Actual implementation will be contingent upon the depletion of existing brackets and inventory levels. The installation bracket change will effect Celebrity®, Décor®, Lightlines® & Reveal™ product lines.

The design modification is intended to make installation easier by incorporating a hook into the bracket. (See illustration.) The hook will allow the rail to hang freely in the brackets without support, leaving the installers' hands free to tighten down the locking tabs. The new design has received positive feedback from installers during field testing.

We are disappointed to announce that we continue to be out-of-stock of Wild Harvest Fig (RLWH769A96F) due to quality issues until further notice.

Alouette LightLouvers and Alustra® Alouette LightLouvers will be discontinued as of May 1, 2009. The Alouette product will not be listed in the 2009 Full Line Reference Guide and Base Price List effective May 5, 2009.

Warranty issues will be supported for six months after the discontinued date (October 30, 2009). Hunter Douglas has experienced material cost increases throughout 2008 on components used in our Horizontal Blinds programs.

Subsequently, Hunter Douglas is forced to implement a price increase for these programs, effective January 6, 2009.

The shutter division has created a 'visual key' for the expanded Heritance colors and the coordinating rear tilt bar colors used for stain orders.

The new rear tilt bar colors have been added to provide enhanced color coordination. This key only includes stains since paint orders have rear tilt bars painted to match.

Several new multi-product templates are now available:

Due to the tremendous demand for Provenance Woven Wood Shades with liners, we are temporarily out of stock of the Chocolate Light-Filtering flat liner. The fabric is expected to be in stock after October 6.

 

We are also currently out-of-stock of the Dual Micropleat Liner Bracket (WWC900017). This bracket is expected to arrive by October 13.

 

**Also, the new Pueblo and Coffee House fabrics are no longer available
in the new hobbled style option. The current fabric stock is stiffer than originally expected and causes the hobbles to fold inconsistently when the
shade is operated.

The Somner Sell Sheet indicates that the availability of full tilt and traverse motorization is available on all specialty systems headrails.

Correction: Motorized full tilt and traverse is available on straight and curved specialty system headrails only.

5-23-2008  Provenance® Woven Woods Stock Updates & Changes

Hold-Down Brackets cannot be ordered with shades that choose the sides and bottom Edge Banding option.

With the sides and bottom option, there is nowhere to drill holes for the Hold-Down Brackets to attach. If Hold-Down Brackets are needed, please order the Edge Banding option on the sides only.

5-22-2008  Pirouette® window shadings Fabric Covered Headrails 

Do not remove the headrail protective film before installing and adjusting the shade in the window.

Damage to the headrail may occur; please follow the Installation, Operation & Care Instructions:

• Unwind the cord from around the shading assembly.
• Position the shading so the front (fabric covered headrail) faces toward you. Leave the protective cover on the headrail until after the shading is installed - to keep the headrail fabric clean.
• Slip the headrail into the installation brackets so the front of the bracket slides under the front groove on the top of the headrail.
• Gently roll the back of the headrail up and push back to snap into place. Once you are sure the shading is installed correctly, remove the protective cover from the headrail.

Following this procedure will protect the fabric covered headrail from fingerprints, scratches and tears.

3-20-2008  Park Lane™ Privacy Sheers Valance Splice

Park Lane Privacy Sheers offer an optional decorative valance for sheers up to 191" wide.

Previously, valances wider than 96" were spliced in the center. Effective immediately, valances wider than 106" will be spliced at the center.

2-29-2008  Vignette® Top-Down/Bottom-Up; Bottom Fold Height Adjustment

Effective Sept. 4, 2007, ALL Vignette Modern Roman Shades and Alustra® Vignette Shades, are indexed from the top down.

• Height adjustment is now being made at the bottom of the shade rather than the top, as was previously the process.
• Eliminates the potential for the top fold to be either slightly longer or shorter than other folds as shown.
• The last fold (pictured on the left) may need to be longer or shorter to achieve the ordered height (+/- 1/8"). In shades of varying height, the length of this fold will vary from shade to shade.
• To ensure side-by-side fold alignment, shades must be the exact same height, fabric and color.
• Side-by-side fold alignment must be requested when the order is placed to ensure that the folds a the bottom are the same size.
  

2-18-2008  Country Woods® Exposé™ Refined Collection Discontinuation 

The Country Woods Exposé Refined Collection will be discontinued effective May 1, 2008.

Three of the popular slat colors in this collection may be found in the current Country Woods Collection:

1-11-2008   Discontinuation: Trio® Convertible Shades

Trio Convertible Shades will be discontinued effective April 30, 2008.

Warren Steven Window Fashions will continue accepting orders through Wednesday, April 30, 2008 - with the last ship date being Monday, May 12, 2008. Warranty issues will be supported with shades or components for 6 months (October 30, 2008).

Beyond that date, RGA's will be handled on an individual basis in support of the Hunter Douglas Lifetime Limited Warranty.

12-28-2007  Universal Cord Tensioner Modification 

January 2008, you may notice a modified cord tensioner with core goods and finished shade orders.

A modification was made to Universal Cord Tensioners used on all Hunter Douglas continuous cord loop products. There is a new indicator line next to the screw hole slot, helping installers identify the proper mounting tension.

The screw hole should be pulled down so the center of the hole lines up with the indicator line.

12-28-2007  Platinum™ Technology Programming Tips 

Situations may occur when shades are programmed to desired groups. Take the distance between the Infrared (IR) receiver eyes into account when utilizing the Radio Frequency (RF) feature.

If the IR receiver eyes are within 48" of each other, try:

• Holding the remote closer to the target shade and aim accurately. If necessary, the remote eye may be so close that it touches the IR receiver eye on the target shade.
• Program each shade to the desired group prior to installation at the window.
• Disconnect the battery wand, satellite battery pack or DC power supply from the shades not being programmed.
